TorqueMaster Plus Springs
Easy DIY Instructions with videos and GIFs will help you replace your Wayne Dalton TorqueMaster torsion springs. The first symptom of a broken spring on a double wide garage door is that the door is heavy and the opener can't open it, or the door opens a few inches and stops. On single car doors with only one spring an additional symptom is that both cables are loose.
TorqueMaster springs are not visible because they are inside the torsion tube. This system was designed for safety to avoid some of the risks involved with replacing standard torsion springs. Over the years Wayne Dalton has designed two types of winders to tension the springs. This page focuses on the TorqueMaster Plus system.

The newer TorqueMaster Plus or Torquemaster II torsion springs use a ratchet winder to tension the springs. These are wound with a 5/8" socket and socket wrench.
