Looking Back on More Than 40 Years of Training
This was my first business, and what a journey it has been!
Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of meeting and training so many people. I have a lot of great memories from those days, the places I traveled, the doors we worked on, the problems we solved, and, most of all, the people I met along the way. Some were just getting started in the trade. Others were building companies of their own. It has been especially rewarding to see people take what they learned and turn it into a livelihood and, in some cases, a successful business that supported their families for many years.
Now the time has come to close this chapter.
DDM Garage Doors will no longer be taking on new training for individuals or companies. We will, of course, honor the training quotes and commitments we have already made.
Although the in-person training is ending, the teaching isn’t.
One of the things that has surprised and encouraged me over the years is hearing from people who taught themselves the garage door business by following our online tutorials and watching our YouTube videos. We put a tremendous amount of knowledge online because we wanted to help people understand how garage doors work and how to repair them properly and safely. Knowing that some people have used those resources to learn a trade and even build a business has made all that work worthwhile.
There is more of our story on the DDM Garage Doors About Us page for anyone who would like to know how this journey began and where it has taken us.
It’s a little bittersweet to say goodbye to something that has been part of my life for so long. But mostly, I look back with gratitude.
To everyone who attended one of my training sessions, worked alongside me, asked questions, shared a meal, told a story, or simply crossed paths with me somewhere along the way: Thank you!
You helped make more than 40 years of training a wonderful part of my life.
I have a lot of great memories, and I’m grateful for every one of them.
